DocBook to OpenDocument Format transformation toolkit
Docbook2odf is an open source project aiming to develop a toolkit that enables transformation of DocBook XML to OpenDocument Format.
Docbook2odf is an open source project aiming to develop a toolkit that enables transformation of DocBook XML to OpenDocument Format . The docbook2odf toolkit and source code is released under GNU/GPL. Anyone wishing to make use of them may download, modify and use docbook2odf under these license terms.

Docbook2odf provides XSLT stylesheets to transform DocBook into any OpenDocument format, including: ODF, ODT, ODS and ODP. Final results should not therefore be restricted only to text like documents, but should include graphic intensive formats for presentations, charts or images and multimedia.

The Docbook2odf toolkit includes convenience utilities to assist in setup and transformation for each of the target presentation formats respectively, including: docbook2odf, docbook2odt, docbook2ods and docbook2odp. Each of the utilities produces a single, zipped archive in accordance with the OpenDocument specifications. The archive extension is automatically renamed to the appropriate filename extension (.odf / .odt / .odp / .ods), depending on the presentational format required.

The project aspires to develop these transformations to a point where output is highly presentable and consistant in formatting. Transformed DocBook, in any of the target presentational formats, should not require further tweaking to be acceptable for use.

From this base, the docbook2odf stylesheets are readily customizable to specific publishing needs, making them ideal for use in technical and other publishing environments. Through customization, organizations are able to achieve consistant formatting in accordance with the specific formatting guidelines that reflect individual corporate identity.
